Summative assessment includes creation of Slide presentation (using www.slide.com) to complete work on this lesson and questions on the unit test once overall unit is complete.

As designed, the lesson incorporates a number of aspects to differentiate instruction: images, song, video, maps, and text
Potential modifications could include using condensed (edited by the teacher) versions of the texts in order to give shorter readings to students whose education plans, reading speeds, and/or english language difficulties necessiate such.
Materials & Resources
Computer for each student (though the lesson could be modified to use paper and pen)
Electronic whiteboard, projector, and speaker system, all attached to teacher computer (an overhead projector, transparencies, and CD player could be used instead)
Student development of and familiarity with online environments, including creation of a virtual notebook
